Where do you find your magic?

Becoming an associate podcast host for SSN has been a reawakening for me. That may sound like a puzzling statement from an award-winning radio broadcaster of 30 years, but it’s true. As a reporter and news anchor, I was a champ at immediately hearing the “money clip” (radio jargon for a great piece of audio!).

Isolating the sound bite of audio necessary to enhance the story. Big newsmaker making a critical announcement 5 minutes before deadline? No problem. I recorded the audio, edited it, and threw it into the newscast.  Let that sit with you for a moment. Sometimes you are throwing it all together to meet your deadline in radio. But while the story was told, the facts were communicated and included a voice; the storytelling wasn’t the same.

Podcasting is a nice slow simmer of luscious storytelling that unravels at its own pace. The listener has time to lose themselves in the picture you are painting. They have time to digest the information you are providing.  Podcasting has stickiness. As a continuous learner passionate about storytelling, I can tell you it’s invigorating to get back behind the mic and explore this audio space with you. #grateful
